The redevelopment of Tipner forms part of the Portsmouth Gateway Project, which aims to make the M275 corridor more attractive and also to facilitate proposals for a public transport link to connect key areas such as Port Solent, Tipner, the City Centre, Gunwharf and Southsea.

The Tipner Regeneration Company (TRC) are working on plans to redevelop the 44 acre wasteland, which is proposed to include a Park and Ride facility as well as residential and commercial opportunities.

Plans are in the early development stages, but once work starts a large number of construction jobs will be created.  Once opened, the site will also provide employment within the commercial and retail space.
