80,000 New Homes
Central Government has given the south Hampshire region a target to build 80,000 new homes between 2006 and 2026, which will generate a large number of construction jobs. This is an annual average for 4,000 homes a year.
As well as house construction, there will be a large amount of upkeep required to existing properties for plumbers, electricians etc.
Building Schools for the Future
The Building Schools for the Future programme will see over £3 billion being invested into schools across the country. Portsmouth's secondary schools will all be impacted by the programme, with some being almost entirely rebuilt over the next 10 to 15 years.
